Endoscopic suit for neuro &spine surgery

The field of spine surgery and neuro are quickly advancing. Conventional medical techniques extensive, open incisions are being supplanted by minimally invasive approaches that allow for less surgical pain, faster recovery, and better overall results. Endoscopic surgeries are one such model of minimally invasive procedures. These methods are now ready for use in spinal surgery. A small camera (endoscope) is placed through a tiny incision to separate structures that are pressing on nerves and causing sciatic pain.

For years, orthopedists have been doing shoulder, hip, and knee surgery using arthroscopic cameras. Similarly, general surgeons and OBGYN doctors have used cameras to aid with abdominal surgeries. Spine surgeons have been reluctant to utilize this technology, but the delayed adoption hasn’t been for lack of trying! Based on anatomy, scopes are most commonly used to improve visualization in large enough regions, or that can be expanded. On the other hand, the spine has much smaller openings and is very sensitive to pressure due to the delicate encompassing nerves.

Endoscopic brain surgery is a method used primarily to operate brain tumors. It is considered a minimally invasive head surgery that permits neurosurgeons to recognize and treat ailments deep within the brain.

“During this procedure, thin tubing that transmits the brain’s video images is entered through one or two small incisions in the skull or through an opening in the body. This tube-like instrument, called an endoscope, carries a small camera that enables the neurosurgeon to see detailed images of the problem area in the brain.

“Endoscopic approaches have truly modified how we treat tumors, particularly because endoscopic techniques give us such a clear visualization of the tumor,” “This approach also does not always require us to access the brain through the skull. We’re able to access the brain through pathways like the nose and sinuses as well.”

The neurosurgeon will apply the images transmitted by the endoscope as a guide for separating the tumor or repair the affected area of the patient’s brain. The extraction of the tumor or damaged area is performed with functional surgical instruments.
